Runnin' Hot is a 3D single-player fast-paced action platformer game with arcade-y and parkouring elements. You play as a local market thief named Nox who has been cursed for stealing and running.
Nox's legs are on fire to forever burn his escapes. He falls into an underground world where he finds salvation for his curse but he has to run for it through challenging terrain, utilizing a variety of movements like running, sliding, wall-running, and jumping.
Your goal is to reach the end of the level and collect a certain amount of water droplets as fast as possible without stopping as the terrain is unstable and can break. The water droplets will fill an empty sacred fountain which will purify the blazing curse. You can collect fireballs on the way to boost your speed.
My roles for this project were Team Lead, Game Designer and Producer. As a team lead I was responsible for handling and managing a team of 8 people from different disciplines, including myself. I organized meetings, communication between mentors and the team, and ensured everyone is on track. This role was combined with producing as I was preparing and assigning tasks to people. I worked on project timelines and milestones for my team to follow.
Game Designer was my initial role as I created and proposed the concept. I was responsible for creating and managing the documentation, designing features and mechanics, narrative and gameplay flow. I assisted in making the Art textures for 3D assets. Helped and guided the 2D artist in creating concept art, User Interface, and storyboards for the intro. Collaborated with the level designer to make the levels and gameplay fun. Worked closely with 3 programmers to implement all the core mechanics.
